Email Spoofing ProtectionHigh risk
Your IP address is on a spam blacklist
What does this mean?
Being on a blacklist means a major spam-filtering service (we check Spamhaus, one of the most widely used) has flagged your domain's IP address as a source of spam or malicious activity. This can cause your emails to be rejected outright or sent straight to spam, and can affect your broader sending reputation.
What are the potential impacts?
- Emails sent from a blacklisted IP are often rejected outright or routed straight to spam, which can silently break password resets, invoices, and customer support replies.
- Being flagged is a strong signal to security-conscious visitors and partners that something is wrong with your infrastructure, even if the actual cause is a single compromised plugin or a noisy neighbor on shared hosting.
- Recovery isn't instant — delisting can take days, and in the meantime every email you send is affected, not just the malicious traffic that caused the listing.
How to fix it
This is often caused by a compromised server, an infected plugin, or sharing an IP address with a bad neighbor on cheap hosting. Contact your hosting provider first — they can usually confirm the cause and help with delisting. Spamhaus's own site also has a lookup tool with specifics on why a domain was listed.
